TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Officials with the Florida A&M University Developmental Research School confirm that they are investigating reports of alleged inappropriate conduct involving a FAMU-DRS employee and several high school students.

The allegations reportedly came to light on Friday.

School officials have not identified the employee, but say that they have been placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation. They added that the employee is not being allowed on FAMU-DRS property.

The Florida Department of Children and Families and local police have been notified about the allegations and an investigation is currently underway.

FAMU-DRS Superintendent Kirk Gavin said in a statement on Wednesday, "Be assured our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our students, and we are following established policies an procedures. Students should continue with their regular classes and extracurricular activities."

During a conference call on Wednesday afternoon, school officials declined to answer any further questions about the details of the case.
