TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The FAMU Police Department has its very first K-9 officer.
The nearly two-year-old German Sheppard's name is "Que."
Que was trained for eight months with his handler, Officer Pye, and has three certifications.
He's a full patrol dog that's trained in apprehending, tracking, and drugs.
Officer Pye said, "It's for the protection of the students, faculty, and staff, and all the visitors that come to our beautiful campus. We want everybody to come here and have a good time. But, we'd just like to eliminate a criminal element from coming to our campus."
Que recently assisting in catching a suspect who tried running from police.
The funding for the K-9 came from the department budget and some help from donations.
