TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida A&M University community is giving back for Thanksgiving.
At Gaither Gym on Tuesday, FAMU staff and athletes handed out turkeys and all the fixings, just in time for the holidays. Local law enforcement also pitched in.
Nearly 200 deserving families, chosen by local organizations, were selected to receive the food.
"It's about helping others and about our community coming together," said Raymond Bellamy, an FAMU adviser. "If you look around in here, you'll find that we've got people from every segment of life in here and that's what it's about."
Bellamy, who organized the event, said he vows to hold the giveaway as long as the university allows.
