TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- In a season that saw plenty of highs and lows for Florida State football, they find themselves with a top ten finish and among the early favorites for next season's title.
The 2016-17 college football season ended just after midnight Tuesday, but Vegas oddsmakers have already released the 2017-18 odds to win the College Football Playoff.
In what shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone at this point, Alabama is the early favorite to win the title with 3-1 odds, but Florida State isn't too far behind the Tide at 8-1, along with Oklahoma, Ohio State and USC.
ACC-foe Louisville, led by Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson checks in at 10-1, and FSU's Orange Bowl opponent Michigan currently sits at 12-1 odds. New college football champion Clemson's odds to repeat according to Vegas? 20-1.
FSU, which once looked down and out after suffering losses to Lousiville and North Carolina, rallied to win six of their last seven games, with the only loss coming to eventual national champion Clemson by a field goal. The Seminoles finished eighth in the final AP Top 25 poll and Dalvin Cook, snubbed during award season, etched his name into the FSU record books and was named a unanimous All-American to close the season.
In a monstrous match-up to kick off the season, Florida State plays Alabama in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Seminoles also have two tough road tests ahead of them at Clemson and Florida.
Fellow Florida teams Florida(14th), South Florida (19th), and Miami (20th) found themselves comfortably in the final poll. Florida State beat all three this past season.
