TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Seniors struggling to stay cool in the summer heat are getting a big reprieve.
Hundreds of fans have been donated to Tallahassee's Elder Care Services in the past two weeks.
It's enough to fulfill every request on the agency's wait list and then some.
Fans line the halls and radio personalities Cash and Woody delivered an $11,000 check Friday to buy more.
"There are no words to describe it except humbled," Woody Hayes said. "We are honored to be a part of such a great community."
"Just glad to help," Cash said. "Kids even took money out of their piggy banks to donate."
"We serve mostly low income (seniors) and they are not in a position to turn up the air," Elder Care CEO Mark Baldino said. "The fans really help."
The box fans are given to seniors on request, helping them to keep them cool and keep their utility bills in check.
