VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) – The Georgia State Patrol has identified the victim of a fatal crash in Lowndes County on Friday.

The crash occurred just after 11 a.m. at State Route 7 and Inner Perimeter Road.

GSP says a tractor trailer, driven by 27-year-old Daniel Fletcher Marx, was heading east on Perimeter Road and ran a red light at the intersection of State Route 7. The tractor trailer struck a Pontiac G6 vehicle that was traveling north on State Route 7. The tractor trailer then continued into the westbound lanes of Inner Perimeter Road and struck a pickup truck that was waiting at the light to turn southbound onto State Route 7.

The driver of the pickup truck, 46-year-old Joseph Ivan Driggers, of Valdosta, was killed in the crash.

A passenger in the pickup, 55-year-old Benjamin Lewis Jackson, was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial with severe injuries.

The driver of the Pontiac, 22-year-old Shianne Lee Richardson, sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to South Georgia Medical Center.

The driver of the tractor trailer was treated at SGMC for minor injuries and released.

Troopers say they do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a contributing factor in this crash but toxicology results are still pending.

Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
