TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Hazmat crews responded to the Collins Building in downtown Tallahassee on Wednesday after a white, powdery substance was found inside, the Tallahassee Fire Department confirms.
Crews were dispatched to the scene around 8 a.m. and located the substance inside of a package on the lower level of the building.
Officials treated the incident as a credible threat and evacuated part of the building as a precaution.
TFD says preliminary testing is showing that the substance is not hazardous, but officials say the substance is being sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Jacksonville for further testing.
Officials also say they believe this is an isolated incident.
The portions of the building that were evacuated are expected to reopen within the next few hours.
This is a developing story.
