TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Leon County Schools is in the process of registering more than 160 students at new schools following the announcement that the Imagine School at Evening Rose is closing.

LCS said immediately after the decision was made, staff members scheduled a meeting with parents to register students elsewhere for the new school year.

Despite they short time frame, the district said majority of the children have a place to go.

“Probably about half of the current population who've already selected slots, they've chosen slots other than their home zone schools. Then for those parents who don't choose slots, we'll transfer them to their home zone schools,” said Beverly Owens, the lead contact for LCS Charter Schools.

The Imagine School at Evening Rose will officially close its doors on June 30th.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Leon County Schools spokesperson Chris Petley has confirmed that the Imagine School at Evening Rose in Tallahassee is closing.

Imagine-Leon County, LLC, which operates the school, held a board meeting on April 17 and voted to close the charter school at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.

During the meeting, the school's governing board chair reported that Imagine Non-Profit could not afford to keep the company open for another year.

The closure comes after enrollment at the school decreased from a high of 663 students in October 2011, to a low of only 167 students in April 2017, which resulted in declining revenue over the years.

Petley says the district is working with parents to ensure students are registered at different schools next year.
