DU PONT, Ga. (WCTV) -- An inactive bomb was dropped in south Georgia during a training mission by a jet stationed at Moody Air Force Base.
Officials with Moody Air Force Base say a "25-pound inert bomb" was inadvertently dropped near the vicinity of Du Pont around 9:45 a.m. Friday during a routine training mission by an A-10C Thunderbolt II.
Officials say it dropped about 33 miles east of Moody Air Force Base. Base officials and civilian first responders have secured the scene.
Officials say that no injuries or damage has been reported at this time.
According to officials, the bomb was a BDU 33.
