TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Bill Schack is running for seat 3 on the Tallahassee City Commission.
Schack is the Food Service Director at The Kearney Center, an emergency services center for the homeless. He has also served as a Leon County Special Olympics coach for 16 years, and volunteers with the American Cancer Society.
Schack graduated from Florida State University in 1990 and has worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. He lives in Tallahassee with his wife and daughter.
"Our city needs a new voice on the commission, one that will be the voice of the people to get things done for our city. I’m not a politician. I’m a resident who is not afraid to dig in and provide common sense leadership and action to help make our city the best it can be," said Schack.
If elected, he says his focus will be on lowering taxes, securing funds for non-profit organizations, and giving law enforcement the tools they need to address crime in the community.
“Over the years, I have recognized that our local politicians continue to make the same promises year after year, election after election, yet the same tough issues and problems still exist in our city. I believe it's time to proactively address these issues, and not talk about them any longer,” said Schack.
Seat 3 is currently held by Nancy Miller, who announced she will not be running for re-election.
