TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The capital city is remembering the homeless in our community who've passed away this year. Thursday night, the Kearney Center hosted a ceremony for National Homeless Persons Memorial Day.
They say many of these people didn't have a funeral, so this is a way for people to come and pay their respects.
"We also need the community support which we get a tremendous amount of it, but we still need that to continue to be able to provide. We're about to provide about 400 meals for dinner tonight and so just awareness on what's going on in the community and support," said Jacob Reiter of the Kearney Center.
The Kearney Center honored the lives of 17 people who passed away this year.
