TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Rickards High School band members received the ultimate surprise from Kia of Tallahassee Wednesday.

The car dealership made the generous donation to the popular band in hopes of encouraging more students to stick with the arts, and not let finances steer them from their goals.

Superintendent Rocky Hanna was one of many LCS staff members in attendance, and several band members say they're grateful for the donation.

"That’s, like, really helpful. It's a relief, especially on the director because he's only one person and he can't do the job all by himself. He's depending on us to earn that money and look how it paid off,” said Senior Flutist Cameron Brown.

The money will go towards upkeep of band equipment and travel fees.
