TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- February 6 marked 100 days of school in Leon County Schools.
Kindergarten students from Killearn Lakes Elementary School celebrated the special day with a variety of festivities.
Ms. Pennington’s kindergarten class was abuzz with excitement. Emily Pennington was dressed like a 100 year old, and so were several students. Students donned curlers, gray hair, and walking canes. Other kindergartners fully committed to the part, walking to lunch with a cane and holding their backs.
The day wasn’t all about dressing up. Students learned about numbers and counting to 100 by different intervals. Some students made fruit loop necklaces using 100 pieces of cereal. Others built structures using 100 plastic cups. Bottles of 100 items were compiled by each student and displayed in the class window.
“We’ve worked hard to count up to 100 days of school and now we made it. 100 days in kindergarten!” said Pennington.
After lunch, students were treated to a special scavenger hunt. At the end of the hunt, the kids received a prize of 100 Hershey Kisses.
