[LIST] Leon County Schools announce new principals and district leadership

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- Leon County Schools approved several new personnel appointments at the school board meeting Tuesday.

Superintendent Rocky Hanna said, "I am excited to announce the addition of these outstanding men and women into new roles with our district. I am confident that they will lead their schools and departments with the utmost respect and focus on the success of our students. These changes will complete the transition phase and prepare us to move forward into next school year."

Superintendent Hanna also thanked Dr. Marvin Henderson and Ronnie Youngblood for their services to the district. Both will be retiring at the end of the month.

Leon County Schools announced the following personnel actions:

Dr. Alan Cox- Assistant Superintendent of School Management

Dr. Alan Cox has been named Assistant Superintendent of School Management. Dr. Cox has been with LCS for 29 years, most recently overseeing ESE, Wellness and Special Schools. Mr. Cox was principal of Chiles High School for nine years prior to that.

Dr. Kathleen Rodgers- Assistant Superintendent of Intervention Services

Dr. Kathleen Rodgers has been named Assistant Superintendent of Intervention Services. Dr. Rodgers has worked with LCS for 34 years, most recently overseeing Intervention Services and serving as the district’s Equity Officer. Prior to working at the district level, Dr. Rodgers was principal of Bellevue Middle School and Kate Sullivan Elementary.

Shelly Bell- Director of Career Technical & Adult Education

Shelly Bell has been named the new Director of Career Technical & Adult Education. Mrs. Bell will move to the district after serving as principal of Godby High School for the previous five years. Prior, Mrs. Bell was the principal at Cobb Middle School for four years and the principal of the Academy of Academics and Technology.

Sue Kraul- Director of Elementary Schools

Sue Kraul has been named the new Director of Elementary Schools. Mrs. Kraul served as the principal at W.T. Moore Elementary for the previous 11 years. Prior, Mrs. Kraul was an assistant principal at Leon High School.

Giselle Marsh- Director of School Improvement and Accountability

Giselle Marsh has been named the new Director of School Improvement and Accountability. Ms. Marsh will move to the district after serving as the principal of Raa Middle School for the previous four years. Prior, Ms. Marsh was an Assistant Principal at Cobb Middle for three years and a chemistry teacher at Chiles for five years.

Desmond Cole- Godby High School Principal

Desmond Cole has been named principal of Godby High School. Mr. Cole served as principal of Nims Middle School for the previous nine years. Prior, Mr. Cole served as principal of Astoria Park Elementary for four years.

Dr. Kelvin Norton- Nims Middle School Principal

Dr. Kelvin Norton has been named the principal of Nims Middle School. Dr. Norton was most recently principal of Success Academy. Dr. Norton has served as an administrator in Jefferson County, FAMU DRS, Steele Collins Charter School and Amos P. Godby High School.

Dr. Christopher Small- Raa Middle School Principal

Dr. Christopher Small has been named principal of Raa Middle School. Dr. Small previously served as principal of Springwood Elementary School for five years and prior to that was an assistant principal at Nims Middle School for three years.

Tina Austin- Springwood Elementary School Principal

Tina Austin has been named principal of Springwood Elementary School. Ms. Austin has been the Assistant Principal at Springwood for the previous nine years. Prior to serving as assistant principal, Ms. Austin also served as assistant principal at Godby High School.

Kerri Lamar-Anderson- W.T. Moore Elementary School Principal

Kerri Lamar-Anderson has been named principal of W.T. Moore Elementary School. Mrs. Anderson has served as assistant principal at Oak Ridge Elementary for the previous two years. Prior, she was an administrator at W.T. Moore Elementary.

Zelena O'Banner- Griffin Middle School Principal in Transition

Zelena O’Banner has been named Principal in Transition at Griffin Middle School. Mrs. O’Banner has been an assistant principal at Deerlake Middle for the previous 14 years. Mrs. O’Banner will work alongside current principal Gwendolyn Lynn-Thomas throughout the 2017-18 school year. Mrs. Lynn-Thomas will retire in 2018.

All personnel moves will become effective July 1, 2017, but some principals will begin to transition to their new schools in the month of June.
