TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida State Seminoles opened their 2017/18 basketball season with a decisive 87-67 win over George Washington.
FSU trailed just once, after GW grabbed the first bucket of the game, and went on to shoot 56 percent from the floor.
Terance Mann led the Noles with 17 points and eight rebounds. In total, five Noles logged double-figure point totals: Mann, Phil Cofer (15), Christ Koumadje (14), MJ Walker (12) and Mfiondu Kabengele (10).
Below is a running recap of the game, kept in the form of our live blog.
FSU will next take on Fordham on Friday at 6 p.m.
Cruise control - 2H, 3:29 | 82-63, FSU
Ever since the cold open to the second half, this game has been well in hand for FSU. Five Seminoles are in double figures scoring - Cofer and Mann each have 15, Koumadje has 14, Walker has 11 and Kabengele has 10.
What's cooler than being cool? 2H, 14:59 | 58-47, FSU
Not the start the Noles would have liked out of the locker room - GW is within 11 and is outscoring FSU 15-8 to open the second half.
HALFTIME: FSU 50 - George Washington 32
Couldn't really have asked for a better half if you're FSU. Sans a 2:30 scoring drought, the Noles controlled the first half, including making 10 of their last 12 shots.
Terance Mann has a team-high 10 for FSU to accompany four rebounds and an assist.
FSU, as a team, is shooting 62% from the floor and is out-rebounding GW 20-10
Heating back up - 1H, 5:55 | 35-21, FSU
That didn't last very long. FSU has now hit three straight and have increased their lead to 35-21.
The defensive pressure remains heavy, and FSU is getting the ball inside the paint easily but are kicking it back out for deeper shots.
Can't buy a bucket - 1H, 6:40 | 29-19, FSU
Noles going through a bit of a drought right now - they're being out scored 6-0 by GW over 1:20, have missed five straight shots and have made just one of their last seven from the floor.
All systems go - 1H, 11:04 | 25-11, FSU
Back to back open looks force GW to call a timeout with 11:04 left in the first half.
Mfiondu Kabengele and Christ Koumadge each lead FSU with six points. Koumadge also has three early rebounds, leading all players.
Workin' out the kinks - 1H, 14:44 | 11-4, FSU
In the opening minutes of the season, the Noles are looking very tight on defense. They're also shooting 56% from the floor to start off, and are holding GW to just a 20% clip in the opening minutes.
