TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A large tree fell on a home on the 800 block of Dunn Street in Tallahassee on Monday morning during Tropical Storm Irma.
The entire front of the home was filled with tree branches and leaves.
The garage and other areas of the home looked completely destroyed. The mailbox, staircase leading to the front door, and multiple structures that were hit by the huge tree were crushed or damaged.
Sheila Owens lives two houses down. She stayed in an evacuation shelter the night before because she feared the trees and other potential impacts from the storm.
"After we left the shelter, we came home, unpacked and went to sleep. We woke up to a bunch of policemen everywhere," said Owens. "We thought somebody got hurt. Then we looked, and that's what had happened."
City workers came out around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Crews had to disconnect and remove power lines that may have been touching or tangled in parts of the downed tree.
Neighbors say about four people lived in the home, possibly local college students. They say someone was home when the tree fell, but there were no reports of injuries.
