TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Deputies with the Leon County Sheriff's Office will begin carrying self aid tourniquets on their duty belts.
According to LCSO, the tourniquets have proven to dramatically increase the chance of survival of an officer or a victim in the event of an injury. A tourniquet is a constricting or compressing device used to stop the flow of blood through a vein or artery.
School Resource Deputies received self aid tourniquet training on Tuesday. The sheriff's office says the first aid device will be issued to every deputy.
