TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A Lincoln High School junior is celebrating a big victory over thousands of other math experts from across the nation.

Graham O’Donnell beat more than 2,000 other math wizards to win a $10,000 grand prize at the ‘Who Wants to Be a Mathematician’ this weekend in Atlanta.

He finished first among 10 semifinalists who were selected from more than 2,300 students nationwide.

Maplesoft sponsored the event. O’Donnell will split the money with Lincoln High School.

“I was happy about it. I mean, pretty much anybody who’s been handed a $10,000 check would be. I have to thank all my family,” O’Donnell said.

WCTV’s been told O’Donnell had a perfect score on the AP Physics C: Mechanics Exam last year.
