TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Big Bend Minority Enterprise Development, or MED, is celebrating 25 years of spotlighting minority and women owned businesses in the Capital City.
An event was held Thursday at the Turnbull Center as part of the MED Week celebrations.
U.S. Congressman Al Lawson was named the Reggie Rolle Economic Development Champion of the Year.
Lucy Ho received the Woman Business Owner of the Year, while Mutaqee Akbar won Minority Business Owner of the Year honors.
"I feel like I'm still a young attorney, a young business person. To get this award at this stage in my career, I feel very honored to get it," said, Akbar.
