GILCHRIST CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office patrol car early Monday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 1:20 a.m. on US-192 just north of County Road 339 in Gilchrist County.
The crash report states that a Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office deputy was traveling north on US-192 when a pedestrian attempted to cross the eastbound lane of traffic and walked in front of the patrol car.
28-year-old Max D. Bailey of Madison, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP says charges are pending an investigation.
