TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A man has been arrested in South Florida, accused of stalking a Florida State University student and claiming to be his biological father.
57-year-old Derrick Kelly, of Riviera Beach, was arrested Tuesday in Broward County on a warrant.
According to arrest documents, the Florida State University Police Department was contacted in September 2015 by an FSU student who said that an unknown man, who claimed to be his father, had been calling and harassing him.
The student said that the man had contacted him and his mother numerous times, demanding that he call him back.
The student told police he was in contact with his real biological father everyday and no one in the family knew the man.
Arrest papers state that the man had also been contacting the victim on Twitter, even after police had warned him not to reach out to the victim.
Following an investigation, a warrant was signed for Derrick Kelly's arrest for stalking/harassment. He was extradited to Leon County on Wednesday and is being held in the Leon County Detention Facility.
