TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A Havana man has been arrested, accused in a purse snatching and stun gun attack in Tallahassee.
According to arrest documents, on January 20, the 66-year-old victim was walking to work near the intersection of Bronough Street and 2nd Avenue when she noticed three men walking nearby.
The victim told police she looked at the men and said "hello," then moments later, felt someone grab the bag she was carrying on her shoulder.
The victim struggled to hold onto the bag and was pulled to the ground and dragged a short distance. The victim says that's when one of the suspects pulled out a stun gun and tried to taser her in the leg, but was unsuccessful.
The victim kicked at the three suspects and eventually lost her grip on the bag. The three men then fled the area.
The victim was able to provide a description of the armed suspect to police, as well as detailed information about the items inside the stolen bag.
The next day, officers with the Havana Police Department conducted a traffic stop and found the driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Malik Ray, to be in possession of the stolen items.
The victim later identified Ray from a photo lineup as the suspect who robbed her.
Ray was arrested Thursday on a warrant for robbery with a weapon and battery on a person age 65 or older.
Ray was booked into the Leon County Detention Facility. He is free on $30,000 bond.
We have no word at this time on the identity of the other two suspects involved.
