JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -- People are usually encouraged to go out and enjoy Jackson County's rivers and creeks, but right now, officials are asking people to steer clear of the water.
The Florida Department of Health in Jackson County has issued a No-Swim Advisory for Spring Creek and the Chipola River, south of Highway 90 in Marianna.
Officials say equipment failure led to a discharge of untreated wastewater near the head of Spring Creek.
Biologists are testing for bacteria until the water returns to normal.
