TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- One person has died after falling out of the bed of a truck on state road 51 in Taylor County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the passenger, 63-year-old Marian Cooke, was sitting on the right tailgate, attempting to keep a large metal bench secured to the left side of the tailgate.

FHP says the bench slid against the bed liner, and as Cooke attempted to keep the bench from sliding, she and the bench fell from the back of the truck, and came to a final rest in the right half of the northbound lane.

The truck immediately stopped to return to where Cooke fell out, according to Troopers.

Officials say Cooke was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville and died later at Shands.
