TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A popular bar in Tallahassee has temporarily reopened for business after a truck crashed into the front of the building on Sunday.

The crash took place at Palace Saloon on Jackson Bluff Road. Tallahassee Police said no one was injured in the crash.

The workers of the bar boarded up the hole for now, but the owner says a contractor will have to come out to reassess the damage and begin the reubuilding process. 12 people were temporarily out of work because of this incident.

We spoke to customers earlier in the day who said they already missed their favorite bar in town.

"I hear the noise, scares the bejeebus out of me. I look and at first, I think somebody threw something really hard at the wall. I look a little farther, shaking crazy, and I walk over and I was like, 'Uh oh.' It took me a good hour and a half to two hours to quit shaking," said Karen McBride, a bartender at Palace Saloon.

Owner, Lora Lowe said loyal customers usually arrive before the doors open, but this day was different.

"The older crew who have been coming in since the 70's, early 80's, they're usually all here and this is their pool table and they all sit right here. But for some reason, yesterday, they were all about 30 minutes late coming in," Lowe said.

The driver was a 41-year-old man from Southeast Billiards and Games who was coming to fix a broken machine.

"We got a phone call, we came down. The truck had then moved back, and I was like, 'Oh, it doesn't look so bad,' until we walked inside and we have a new drive through," Lowe said.

Lowe said 12 workers from Palace Saloon were temporarily out of work with no word on when they could return.

"I miss my customers terribly. I love this bar, I love to be here, I love to work, and yeah I’m going to miss it," McBride said.

According to the Lowe, the driver of the crash says he doesn't know what happened, but he thinks his foot might have slipped off of the brake. Palace Saloon has an annual 5K every April, and the owner said the race, scheduled for April 15, will still happen.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A local bar is temporarily closed after a pickup truck slammed into the building Sunday afternoon.

Palace Saloon owner Lora Lowe told WCTV they were 15 minutes from opening the doors when the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.

Only one person, a bartender was inside of the bar at the time of the crash. There were no injuries reported, according to Tallahassee Police.

The driver involved in the accident, a 41 year old man, told the owner he doesn't know how the accident happened.

It's not known at this time when the bar will reopen. Its marquee reads "closed until further notice" after the crash left a 5 foot by 8 foot hole in the building.

The Palace Saloon has been in operation since 1971. According to the bar's owner, a contractor is expected soon to assess and estimate the cost of the damage.

Tallahassee police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
