ORLANDO, Fla. (WCTV) -- A 265-pound Atlantic bottlenose dolphin was rescued in Ponte Vedra Beach last week after being attacked by a shark.
Members of the SeaWorld Orlando Rescue Team and the Georgia Aquarium Conservation Field Station were called in to assist with the rescue of the dolphin so it could receive rehabilitation for life-threatening injuries.
The dolphin was transported to SeaWorld Orlando’s Cetacean Rehabilitation Facility for treatment. Team members say the dolphin sustained multiple shark bite wounds to her body and right pectoral flipper.
According to SeaWorld Orlando, the dolphin was able to swim on her own at the park’s rescue facility, but she is receiving 24-hour care.
