VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- A local food bank is getting ready for a big day.
Second Harvest of South Georgia is helping feed local families in need, handing out more than 2,000 food boxes on Tuesday. It isn't just your average Thanksgiving turkey, as each box will feed a family of four for up to a week.
"Just to know that people care about them and to be able to have some normalcy and celebrate the holiday with their family and to have a Thanksgiving meal really blesses them," said Eliza McCall of Second Harvest.
Thanksgiving for Thousands will kickoff at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the old Valdosta High School.
Cars are asked to enter from the entrance on Eastwind Road. The boxes are available on first-come-first-serve basis, while supplies last.
