NEWPORT, Fla. (WCTV) -- A Missouri man who was reported missing over the weekend was found on the side of the road in Wakulla County Monday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a trooper was patrolling US-98 near SR 267 when he saw a white Hyundai Tucson parked on the side of the road. The trooper says an elderly white man was sitting in the driver’s seat and appeared to be confused.
The man told the trooper he was from St. Charles, Missouri and was trying to find Apalachicola.
The trooper ran a check of the vehicle's license plate and the man's driver's license and confirmed that he was a subject of a Silver Alert. Stephen R. Brown was reported missing around 8:45 p.m. Sunday.
Emergency medical crews checked on Brown at the scene and determine he was physically healthy, but he was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
FHP says several of Brown's family members are flying into Tallahassee to help bring him back home to Missouri. St. Charles is approximately 837 miles from Newport.
