Tallahassee man accused in deadly shooting released from hospital

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The man accused in a deadly shooting on Steele Drive last month is now behind bars.

Calvin Holiday, 24, was released from the hospital and booked into the Leon County Jail on Monday.

Last week, Holiday was charged with second degree murder and attempted first degree murder for the September 24 shooting that killed 40-year-old Taris Nickolas and injured another man.

Holiday is being held on $50,000 bond.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man is facing murder charges in connection to a fatal shooting on Steele Drive on Sunday night.

Tuesday, the Tallahassee Police Department announced the arrest of 24-year-old Calvin Holiday.

Police say Holiday was involved in the shooting that left 40-year-old Taris Nickolas dead and injured a 30-year-old man.

Holiday is currently in police custody and is being treated at a local hospital for injuries he suffered during the shooting.

According to arrest documents, it appears that the motive for the shooting was an ongoing dispute between Holiday and the surviving gunshot victim over a female. Police say Taris Nickolas was a friend of the surviving victim and was visiting him when the shooting occurred.

Holiday is charged with attempted first degree murder and second degree murder and will be booked into the Leon County Jail upon his release from the hospital.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department has identified the victim of a shooting on Sunday night.

The shooting took place at the Tallahassee Housing Authority on Steele Drive and Grady Road.

Authorities responded to the call just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police say first responders provided immediate medical attention to the victims on the scene who were then taken to the hospital.

One of the victims, 40-year-old Taris Nickolas, passed away from his injuries.

TPD says investigators believe they have identified all parties involved and that the individuals knew each other prior to the shooting.

Officials say homicide investigators are currently working with the State Attorney's Office to determine appropriate charges in the case.

Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and collect evidence and are asking anyone with information to contact TPD at (850) 891-4200, or call Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
