TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating what may have caused a fire that destroyed a home on Tallahassee's south side.
According to the Tallahassee Fire Department, the fire broke out just before 11 p.m. Monday at a home at 431 Moonlit Trace.
TFD says, upon arrival, fire crews were met with fire conditions so intense that they changed their attack efforts to defensive because of the dangers within the home.
One person escaped the home before firefighters arrived at the scene and was treated by Leon County EMS.
Once the fire was under control, fire crews conducted a thorough search to make sure no one else was still inside.
Officials say the home is a total loss, with damage estimated at $50,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS, and City Utilities.
