TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department says Vincent Davis stabbed himself several times after beating and killing his 70-year-old mother.

TPD was called to a home on the 800 block of Putnam Drive around 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Officers were sent to check on the welfare of a resident of the home.

Once on the scene, officers found 70-year-old Beulah Wright beaten and stabbed to death.

Arrest reports state Wright had blunt force trauma to her head and had several teeth knocked out. She also had multiple stab wounds.

Officers say a male family member who was in the home at the time immediately barricaded himself inside a room and refused to come out. TPD believed the man played a role in the homicide and officers were eventually able to take him into custody.

TPD later identified the suspect as Vincent Davis, Wright's son.

Arrest documents claim Davis told officers that he killed Wright, and then tried to kill himself by stabbing himself several times. Davis' girlfriend told officers that Davis had been using molly.
