TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WCTV) -- President Trump's State of the Union speech wrapped up later than expected Tuesday night, and in downtown Tallahassee, dozens gathered to watch and listen.
Many say President Trump has accomplished a lot in his first year.
"Economy is up, relations in Asia are booming. I think it's been the best in many years," said Josh Durham.
Republicans and Trump supporters alike were pleased with the message that was delivered in the address.
"The president has been tackling a lot of big issues and, quite frankly, a lot of issues that have been plaguing this nation for 20, 30, 40 years. He's getting a lot of stuff done and he's laying that out here tonight," said Blaise Ingoglia of the Republican Party of Florida.
When it comes to uniting the country, they believe he is the one to do so.
"I think if the DACA negotiations prove anything, he's going to sit down with people who are going to verbally attack him for the past year and say, 'listen, I don't care, I want to make a deal with you guys, I want to make a deal because I care about the American people,'" said Julian Cordova.
They say they tone of the speech was the right one.
"It's pure optimism. What's he's saying is, 'here, look, you elected me to disrupt, you elected me to smash against the status quo, you elected me to change things in Washington and that's what I'm doing,'" said Ingoglia.
