DIXIE COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- A 19-year-old suffered critical injuries after her car collided with an electric company boom truck in Dixie County, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The crash happened Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of US Highway 19 and NE 521 Street in Old Town.
Troopers say 19-year-old Breanna Lamb was on her way to work, traveling westbound on NE 152 St. in a 1993 Honda Accord.
According to the crash investigator, Lamb stopped at the stop sign at the intersection, then attempted to make a left turn onto southbound US Highway 19. Troopers say Lamb failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming boom truck that was travelling northbound. The front of the truck collided into the left side of Lamb’s car, pushing it roughly 160 feet down the road before coming to a stop.
The front right tire of the power truck was on the Honda, entrapping Lamb. Authorities say that Tri County Towing and Recovery Inc. had to report to the scene to lift the boom truck off of the Honda to allow Dixie County Fire Rescue to extract Lamb from the wreckage.
Lamb was rushed to Shands Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition.
The driver of the boom truck was not injured in the crash.
No charges have been filed.
