VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- A Facebook post of a 4-year-old girl and her four parents is warming the hearts of blended families all over.

The picture shows the girl in her soccer jersey and her parents kneeling next to her in matching shirts.

"I just thought it was really inspirational to see two different families coming together for one child, no matter the differences that they’ve had in the past," says Meagan Cooper.

Cooper is a newlywed, and it's her first time co-parenting.

"No matter the struggle that it's going to take to get there, everybody can get there one day if they look for the best interest of the child," says Cooper.

Maelyn's stepmom, Emilee Player, posted the photo.

It has tens of thousand of shares, and counting.

What many of those people don't know is that Player grew up in Valdosta, before moving to Columbus.

During a FaceTime interview, Player tells her story behind the post.

"People say this is your job as parents, and yeah, it's our job, but most families don't get a long like we do," says Player.

She says she comes from a split family, and never understood the challenges until meeting her husband when Maelyn was two.

“You just do it. At first, it was awkward. Your insecurities and your feelings get in the way," says Player.

However, something both parents can agree on is coming together for their kid.

"I love the positive feedback that we're getting. My heart feels so big. It made me realize that what we're doing is the right thing for our child," says Player.
