TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Florida Senior Day 2018, an event to celebrate and advocate for Florida’s seniors, kicks off at the State Capitol on Wednesday morning.

The event, now in its 18th year, is hosted by the Department of Elder Affairs and United Way of Florida.

Wednesday's entertainment gets underway on the back steps of the old Florida State Capitol Building at 10 a.m. The program runs until 2:30 p.m.

A Florida Senior Day town hall meeting is also set to take place inside the Capitol beginning at 10 a.m. Hundreds of seniors will meet with a panel of top policymakers, advocates and business leaders to discuss current issues affecting seniors across the state.
