FINAL - FSU 17 - Duke 10
The Noles survive Duke and get their second victory of the season. Duke had a chance to tie the game on the last play of the game, but the ball was batted down in the end zone.
Thanks for spending your early Saturday afternoon with us. We've got a full recap coming shortly.
Final stand - 1:32 4Q, FSU 17-10
The Noles can't make anything out of their drive, and give the ball back to Duke.
Closing it out - 3:24 4Q, FSU 17-10
FSU forced a three-and-out of the Duke offense and have possession in the waning moments of the game. The Noles still lead by a touchdown.
He Cam go all the way - 8:23 4Q, FSU 17-10
Cam Akers got the call on a third-and-three and took it to the house on a 42-yard touchdown run.
Akers has 112 yards in total on just 13 touches.
END OF THIRD QUARTER: FSU 10 - DUKE 10
No targeting - 0:09 3Q, 10-10
Patrick won't be ejected for targeting. A big break for FSU.
Another pick - 0:09 3Q, 10-10
James Blackman throws his second interception of the game on another play where it looked like Blackman and his receiver wasn't on the same page.
To add insult to injury, the officials are looking at a targeting call. It would go against Jacques Patrick.
Tie game - 2:12 3Q, 10-10
After the Noles extended their lead with a field goal, the Blue Devils drove right down the field and scored on a nine-yard touchdown rush by Brittain Brown.
Duke's scoring drive went 75 yards in seven plays and took 2:42 off the clock.
Going the wrong way - 6:00 3Q, FSU 7-3
On 2nd and goal, Blackman gets sacked at the Duke 19 after a Blue Devil defender goes through the Noles' offensive line untouched.
Stand and deliver (before you get taken down) - 7:15 3Q, FSU 7-3
Blackman receives a huge hit in the pocket, but not before he teams up with Murray for a long 30+ pick up to set the Noles up at the Duke 8.
The third quarter has begun - FSU 7 - Duke 3
HALFTIME: FSU 7 - Duke 3
The Duke defense has tightened up after that long, methodical opening drive by the Noles and the FSU defense has been solid all day.
Cam Akers has 64 yards on eight carries, Nyquan Murray has three catches for 31 yards and Blackman is 10-12 through the air for 98 yards with a touchdown and an interception
PICK - 3:15 2Q, FSU 7-3
Emmett Rice picks off a trick play by the Blue Devils on a halfback pass and the Noles will start the drive from their own 15.
Duke was moving down the field with ease, so the turnover is a big pick-me-up for the defense.
It's up, it's good - 8:40 2Q, FSU 7-3
Duke hits a 37-yard field goal and turns the Blackman interception into points.
How will Blackman respond to throwing that red zone interception? A couple of games ago, I'd be very worried, but he's grown so much in such a short time that it shouldn't be a problem.
4th and go-for it - 9:30 2Q, FSU 7-0
Duke goes for it on 4th and 4 and converts to the Noles 25. FSU's defense is still looking to preserve the shutout.
Blackman picked off - 14:54 2Q, FSU 7-0
Following a delay of game penalty to open the quarter, Blackman throws an interception in the red zone. Murray was the closest receiver in the area, but it was not a close play. There were two blue jerseys in the area and Murray was barely there.
Duke ball at their 15.
END OF FIRST QUARTER: FSU 7 - DUKE 0
Blackman goes down - 0:09 1Q, 7-0 FSU
Blackman gets sacked for the first time today as he tried to step up in a quickly-collapsing pocket. He tried to escape but stepped right into the tackler.
Cam keeps coming - 2:00 1Q, 7-0 FSU
Cam Akers looks nearly unstoppable. He's already taken five carries for 30 yards and isn't going down on first contact.
He's a fun player to watch.
Back to work - 5:47 1Q, 7-0 FSU
The Noles defense surrenders one first down but tightens up immediately after, forcing a Duke punt.
Blackman + Tate = Touchdown! - 8:31 1Q, 7-0 FSU
James Blackman finds Auden Tate across the middle and Tate uses his body to bounce off a couple of defenders to find the end zone.
Exactly what I said at the beginning of the drive - the Noles were able to put together not only a sustained drive, but put points on the board.
Blackman finished that drive going 4-4 through the air for 45 yards.
Establishing Akers early - 11:27, 1Q
The Noles are establishing Akers in the rushing game early and he's finding a good amount of early success.
How will the Noles start?
We've seen slow starts for FSU all season long. If the Noles can put a drive together, even without points, ti cold be a huge start to the day.
Once again, the Noles will open the game on offense after the Duke Blue Devils won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
Who's ready for some football? - 11:55 a.m.
Happy Saturday, everyone. Settle in, grab a cola and lets see how things unfold in Durham.
