JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- Jefferson County students were released early on Thursday due to a water main break.

Jefferson County Schools say the main leak happened around 7:30 and 8 a.m. on Thursday morning, and students were released around 11.

Due to the main break, students will not be in class on Friday, JCS said, giving the school system an early release for spring break, which begins next Monday.

JCS Vice Principal Andre Gainey told WCTV that the students will have Friday off because the issue wont be fixed in time for classes beginning. Gainey also said no classrooms or students were affected by water.

"We wont bring students into an enviornment where we can't give them safe water," Gainey said.
