TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A Tallahassee woman is accused in a mortgage scheme that left a homebuyer on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
50-year-old Michellet Lincoln is accused of pocketing $225,000.
Florida’s Chief Financial Officer started investigating after a Tallahassee couple moved into their newly-purchased home and started getting foreclosure notices.
Lincoln is accused of falsifying mortgage documents to buy that house from the previous owner, then turning around and selling it to the unsuspecting couple.
Lincoln was arrested near Atlanta on grand theft and fraud charges.
She was booked into the Leon County Detention Facility and is now free on bond.
