BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WCTV) -- The media has spoken, and they predict the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators to finish in first and second place, respectively, in the SEC East in the 2017 season.

UGA earned the second most points in the SEC preseason poll (behind only Alabama) and garnered 138 first-place votes. Florida finished 70 points behind the Dawgs and received 96 first-place votes.

Alabama ran away as the media favorite in the SEC West - 1683 points and 225 first-place votes - and are the run-away favorites to win the SEC. Auburn is the second-most popular pick to win the league, while Georgia is third. Florida is tied for fifth.

The Bulldogs also had four First Team Preseason selections, two on offense and two on defense. Senior Nick Chubb and sophomore Isaac Nauta were named on the offensive side of the ball, while juniors Trenton Thompson and Roquan Smith represented UGA's defense.

The Gators landed a pair of names on the First Team, with senior Duke Dawson and junior Martez Ivey representing UF.
