TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Ana Wallace of Chiles High School has been named the 2017-18 Gatorade Florida Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.
The Gatorade Company says Wallace is the first athlete to be honored from Chiles High School.
Wallace won the Class 3A individual state championship this year, running a time of 17:43.42, and took third at the Foot Locker South Regional championships and earned All-American status.
She also has victories in the Big Bend Invitational and the Buffalo Invitational, and placed second at the Great American Cross Country Festival.
Off the track, Wallace is a student ambassador and has maintained a 4.0 GPA.
After winning Florida runner of the year, Wallace is now in the running for the Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year award.
