CINCINNATI, Ohio (WCTV) -- The Florida A&M University Women's Basketball team played their second game in as many days, dropping a 70-52 non-conference decision to Xavier University here at the Cintas Center Friday afternoon.
Friday at least saw the Rattlers (2-10) shoot a bit better from the floor at 33 percent, compared to their 30 percent showing on Thursday night at Miami of Ohio in Oxford.
Xavier (6-4) grabbed control in the first quarter, seizing a 20-9 lead after the first 10 minutes, then outscored the visitors, 16-11 in the second to forge a 36-20 halftime edge.
The Musketeers repeated their second quarter performance in the third, 16-11, extending their lead to 52-31 with 10 minutes to play.
FAMU outpaced their hosts, 21-18 in the final frame but could not close the gap on Xavier.
Senior guard Ecenur "E" Yurdakul led FAMU with 11 points off the bench. Starters De'Ayra Davis and Shakeyrra Morrison had six points, along with Ama Arkorful, while Florence Ouattara had five points. Morrison pulled down a game high 12 rebounds.
