LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (WCTV) -- The FAMU Rattlers played their second game of the season but could not hang with the Arkansas Razorbacks, falling 49-7.
The Rattlers were without Ryan Stanley due to a turf toe issue, and Vincent Jeffries started in his place.
Jeffries struggled against the Razorbacks defense, completing 14 of his 27 pass attempts for just 95 yards.
FAMU only allowed one score in the first quarter, when Arkansas' Devwah Whaley punched it into the endzone from five yards out, and the Rattlers entered the halftime break down 21-0, but the flood gates opened in the second half has the Razorbacks jumped to a 42-0 lead before the Rattlers put points on the board.
Brandon Norwood connected on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Jeffries to escape the shutout, and make it 42-7, but the score came with 8:23 left in regulation.
The Rattlers finished with 175 yards of total offense from scrimmage, while surrendering 415 to the 'Backs.
FAMU has a bye next week before they host Tennessee State on Saturday, Sept. 16.
