FSU men's basketball draws FGCU in NCAA tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Third-seeded Florida State men's basketball will face off against 14-seed Florida Gulf Coast University in the second-round of the NCAA tournament Thursday.

Tip-off is set for 9:20 p.m. Thursday at the Amway Center in Orlando. The game will air on TNT. If FSU wins, its next game will be Saturday against either Maryland or Xavier.

It's the Seminoles' first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2012, when FSU fell to Cincinnati in the round of 32.

FSU (25-8, 12-6) is led by sophomore Dwayne Bacon, who is average 16.9 points per game. Freshman Jonathan Isaac is second on the team in scoring averaging 11.9 points per game.

Florida Gulf Coast is no stranger to tournament success. The Eagles advanced to the sweet 16 in 2013, and advanced to the second-round of the tournament last season.

FGCU earned the Atlantic Sun Conference's automatic bid by winning the conference tournament.

The ACC sent nine teams total the NCAA tournament.
