Former Wakulla athlete named starter for Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Florida head football coach Jim McElwain has announced former Wakulla High School player Feleipe Franks has been named the starting quarterback for the Gators' season opener against Michigan.

During his senior year for the War Eagles, Franks threw for 2,766 yards and 35 touchdowns while adding 245 yards and four touchdowns on 28 rushes.

The Gators open their season on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
