MIAMI, Fla. (WCTV) -- In Monday's series opener against the San Francisco Giants, Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton set a new club record by belting his 43rd home run of the season.
Stanton's 43rd long-ball of the year set a new Marlins' franchise single-season home run best, surpassing Gary Sheffield's 1995 mark of 42.
Counting Monday, Stanton has gone yard in five consecutive contests and has hit 22 home runs in his last 34 games.
Miami defeated San Francisco 8-3.
