Pensacola, FL (AP) - A Florida Panhandle man has been sentenced to life in prison for a shootout that left his ex-girlfriend and three deputies wounded.
The Pensacola News-Journal (http://on.pnj.com/zKdwdR ) reports that an Escambia County judge sentenced 48-year-old Philip Monier Friday after a jury found him guilty on four counts of attempted murder.
Authorities say Jackie Rosenbloom called 911 in October 2010 as Monier barged into her Pensacola home to get a ring back. Deputies entered the home and found Monier holding Rosenbloom hostage.
Authorities say Monier ignored orders to drop his gun and fired several shots at the deputies, using Rosenbloom as a shield. One of the deputies returned fire, hitting Rosenbloom in the neck. Monier suffered a minor wound to his hand.
