Armed Robbery at a Valdosta Dollar General
On December 30, 2011 at approximately 9:59pm, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the Dollar General, 800 Madison Hwy in reference to the report of an armed robbery.

Valdosta, Georgia - January 3, 2012 -

On December 30, 2011 at approximately 9:59pm, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the Dollar General, 800 Madison Hwy in reference to the report of an armed robbery.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the manager, Tyler Smith, and an employee, Kent Hunt, who told them that an African American male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a ski mask, grey hooded sweatshirt, and black pants entered the business with a handgun and demanded money.

Smith advised that the offender was given an unknown amount of money and left the store. The offender was not located during the search of the area.

A detective from the Valdosta Police Department Persons Crime Unit responded to investigate. No one was hurt during the incident.

mecq...do you own a map? That store is downtown Valdosta and is 5 miles from the interstate through heavy traffic. It is NOT as you say "right off the I75 exit ramp"....if so than ALL of Valdosta is closer and would be a "BullsEye for crime". LOL!

That store is a BullsEye for crime. It's right off the I75 exit ramp,in a dark remote location.

Wow, this dude could have profited from a few moments with Willie Sutton. Willie would have noted that the Dollar General is where the money ain't.
