Big Bend Crime Stoppers have a few new tools for the community to help law enforcement fight crime.
Along with calling the Big Bend Crime Stoppers hotline (850-574-TIPS,) you can now text your tips.
Text BBCS plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES.)
There are also a new mobile app to submit your tip.
To do that, go to the market on your smart phone or i-phone and download "Tipsubmit."
The executive director of Big Bend Crime Stoppers, Sharon Ofuani, says, "All of that is a way of communicating in today's methods of communicating. Particularly for our young people. Our young people text everything. We want them to be a part of the solution. We want them to take responsibility for their own safety, not only feel safe, be safe."
You can also get free alerts directly on your cell phone.
To sign up for the alerts and for more information about the new tools with Big Bend Crime Stoppers, go to www.BBCSI.org.
