VPD: "Discrepancies" in Story Given by Armed Robbery Victims
On January 4, 2012 at approximately 11:30pm, the Valdosta Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at 1538 Base Street.

Valdosta, Georgia - January 5, 2012 -
On January 4, 2012 at approximately 11:30pm, the Valdosta Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at 1538 Base Street. Officers arrived and made contact with Eric Wright and Densel Marable, who indicated that they were inside the residence when they heard a knock on the door. Wright advised that he answered the door and two African American males with guns rushed in. Wright stated that they were both wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandannas over their faces. According to Wright and Marable, the offenders demanded money and when they told them that they did not have any, they were assaulted, and then the offenders took some electronic items and left the residence. The Valdosta Police Department Person’s Crime Unit and a Crime Scene Technician from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Lab responded to investigate. According to Investigations there were several discrepancies in the story given by the victims who were not fully cooperative. The victim’s injuries were not serious; they were treated by EMS, but not transported. The incident is currently under investigation.
