VPD: Robbery at Foodway Convenience Store
On December 19, 2011 at approximately 7:40pm, officers with the Valdosta Police Department responded to the Foodway Convenience Store, 1707 N. Forrest Street, in reference to a robbery.

Valdosta, Georgia - December 20, 2011 -
On December 19, 2011 at approximately 1940 hours, officers with the Valdosta Police Department responded to the Foodway Convenience Store, 1707 N. Forrest Street, in reference to a robbery. The store owner, Hemant Patel, told officers that an African American male entered the store with a handgun and demanded the money. Patel indicated that the offender took all of the money from the cash register then left in a blue older model Oldsmobile driving south on N. Forrest Street. There were multiple customers in the store and they all described the offender as an African American male, approximate age 25-30 years old, approximate height 5’8”, approximate weight 170 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, a white and blue bandana covering his face, and wearing gloves. No one was hurt during the robbery. Detectives from the Valdosta Police Department and a Crime Scene Technician from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory responded to investigate. There is no further information at this time.
